Programs
Genesee’s Center for the Arts houses the Digital Art, Drafting and Theatre Arts programs. The Center also contains art and ceramic studios, a music library, drafting and commercial art classrooms. The drafting and commercial art studios have supporting computer laboratories.
The College offers a wide variety of degree and non-degree programs in the Fine Arts. Coursework is also offered in art, studio art, digital art, painting, photography, speech, music and technical theatre.
Forum Players
Forum Players is an award-winning theatre club, comprised primarily of program majors but open to students of all majors, at Genesee. The club produces shows in a variety of genres every year, and also tours regionally with its annual Children’s Theatre production. Students run the entire show in every hands-on aspect, including acting, tech, and organization.
Forum Players take annual trips to important professional theatrical venues, such as the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada, attending a variety of shows and “talk backs” with professional actors. GCC’s theatre program also brings professional acts to the College, where students can participate in workshops with guest artists, developing and honing creative and marketable skills.
Some of our outstanding recent productions include The Rocky Horror Show, Single Black Female, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students get a wide variety of opportunities in all types of productions: musicals, comedies, dramas, children’s theatre, and plays focusing on important social and ethnic issues. Recently, the Children’s Theatre produced Strong Kids, which addressed such important topics as bullying and peer pressure. Last year’s production, The Lamp is the Moon, traveled to sell-out crowds around the GLOW region.
